ADV provides the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) with comprehensive analytical and operational support to their criminal investigations and counterintelligence services mission. ADV’s criminal intelligence analysts conduct short and long-term studies using a variety of statistical analysis to draw conclusions and estimate probabilities based upon knowledge of economic, geographic, and social information from current and past incidents associated with sexual assaults across the entire Air Force. Our analysts use a mix of classified and open-source tools for research, link analysis, and data intelligence reporting, primarily focusing on rapes/sexual assaults, sextortion scams, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) operations, and child pornography crime statistics. Our services present relevant and thorough analysis in identifying the trends of the behaviors and actions of sexual assault offenders in AFOSI investigations by plotting and reporting timeline charts, and outlining relationships between subject, victims, and witnesses. These ADV assets partner with the other DoD major criminal investigative organizations, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, to share similar data between the agencies.
